The event “Pindobaçu Verde: Community Mobilization for Climate Justice and Urban Sustainability” will take place over one week in October 2025, with the central theme: “Climate Justice in the Semi-Arid Region: Pathways to Greener, Conscious, and Resilient Cities.”
Focusing on climate action and the urban environment, the event aims to raise awareness, build capacity, and mobilize the urban population of Pindobaçu (BA) toward sustainable practices and concrete actions to address the impacts of climate change. The proposal integrates environmental education, community engagement, and the enhancement of urban green spaces as a strategy to build a more just and sustainable city.
The event will adopt a decentralized, participatory, and multidisciplinary format, including ruond tables, practical workshops (such as composting and urban gardens), ecological walks, community clean-ups and urban art, sustainable fairs, and guided trails in municipal conservation areas. The approach is grounded in integral ecology and educommunication, prioritizing youth leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and both traditional and scientific knowledge.
The proposal is directly aligned with the main theme of Urban Circuit 2025 – “Facing Urban Challenges: Pathways to Just and Sustainable Cities”, seeking collaborative and low-cost solutions to environmental challenges that directly affect urban and peripheral populations, especially in a semi-arid municipality. The initiative also connects with the chosen thematic line, Climate Action and Urban Environment, as it addresses the impacts of climate change on everyday urban life through social mobilization, environmental preservation, education, and local public policies.
