The event will debate the challenges of adopting a territorial perspective and integrating information to guide housing, social, and environmental policies in addressing urban development issues through an intersectoral approach.
As a starting point and reference, the event will draw on the process of building the foundations for the preparation of PDUH 2040 – Urban and Housing Development Plan of the State of São Paulo. This plan is based on the premise of integrating two complementary public policies — housing and urban development — treating housing and territory as central and strategic elements for articulating socio-environmental and economic development, with the goal of promoting social inclusion and poverty reduction in a sustainable way.
The presentations will explore complementary perspectives on the theme, beginning with housing and urban development planning, and including contributions from:
- Public policies in education, social and economic development, and the environment, which, in addressing the challenges of targeting actions in specific territories, highlight the central and strategic role of housing in sustainable development.
- Academia and other stakeholders, who will discuss the theme from the perspective of how to articulate different visions and public policies at local and regional levels.
