Engineering and Urban Resilience: Geotechnical and Hydrological Debate

The event “Engineering and Urban Resilience: Geotechnical and Hydrological Debate” will focus on discussing the role of engineering in promoting urban resilience, particularly in the face of climate change impacts on cities. Emphasizing geotechnical interventions in vulnerable urban areas and solutions for flood control, the event aims to facilitate the exchange of technical and practical knowledge aimed at adapting to and mitigating urban risks related to soil and water. The on-site event will be organized by the Escola Politécnica de Pernambuco (Department of Civil Engineering), in partnership with engineering companies Maccferri and Mega Reforça, featuring technical lectures delivered by experts from both academia and industry. The approach will be technical-scientific, with an emphasis on evidence-based solutions, technological innovations, and real-world engineering experiences applied to urban contexts. The event is directly related to the main theme of Urban Circuit 2025, addressing urban resilience and sustainability, and is fully aligned with the thematic focus “Climate Action and Urban Environment”, proposing concrete actions to confront the effects of climate change—such as landslides and floods—through applied engineering.
