600 Million African Super City

Are African cities truly ready - not just for today, but for tomorrow, when 600 million Africans will join the workforce by 2030? Are they prepared for the exchange of goods, services, and talent that the African Continental Free Trade Agreement promises — or for the connective infrastructure projects like the Lagos–Abidjan Super Highway? Are they ready for new types of work, and the new forms of family life that are emerging? Are our current homes ready for founders who need to bring their teams together for a few days of intense collaboration? What about our heritage sites — lying underused — while the very creatives who could bring them to life are forced to work and sleep in soulless, improvised spaces? And our universities, with swathes of undeveloped land — are they equipped to jumpstart the kind of living and working experiences the next generation needs? So how do we redesign the way we live — from Lagos to Lomé, Abuja to Abidjan? How do we start small, with the first 60 to 600 residents, and build a model that grows with us into the future? In partnership with the Institute of African & Diaspora Studies (IADS), University of Lagos, the 600 Million Africa Super City Event will bring the city into one room: thinkers and builders, policymakers and artisans, academics and financiers, creators and culture-shapers. Together, we will share insights, explore strategies, and showcase bold ideas — culturally grounded, economically viable, and powered by renewable energy — for the future of living in Africa. Our goal: to set the stage for city actors to meet — renewable energy innovators and infrastructure financiers, cultural workers and young artisans learning trades — all united by one ambition: to co-create the future. Venue: JP Clark Building, IADS, University of Lagos, Nigeria Date: 15 October 2025 Time: 12:00 PM WAT Pre-registration is required for both in-person and virtual participation: bit.ly/600MillionAwarenessEvent
