Serdivan Streets Are Transforming

The Marmara Municipalities Union, Superpool and the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) have organized the "Street Transformation Implementation Project" in collaboration with the aim of transforming city streets into livable areas for children and their parents, pedestrian and child-friendly public spaces. Within the scope of this project, our Play Street Project was implemented in Arabacıalanı, one of the busiest neighborhoods in Serdivan. The street dominated by schools has been transformed into a more functional area for both students and parents. Play areas were built for children by recycling materials found in the municipality on the street. Unused vehicle tires were used for flower pots. Playgrounds were created to allow children to be in touch with nature. Special areas were also provided for sports activities. An area was built for the game of Bocce, which has become more well-known in our country recently. Children can safely go to and from school on the school street, which was closed to vehicle traffic and pedestrianized. Children have the chance to play freely on the streets. The number of pedestrians using the street has increased. The waiting area has also become safer for parents who bring their children to and from school.
