The National Urban Forum (FUN) 2024, organized by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing of Ecuador, will take place on October 23 and 24, 2024, in Quito. The event aligns with the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11, which aims for inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities. Under the theme "Towards Compact, Dense, and Walkable Cities," the forum will bring together national and international stakeholders, including local governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and academia. The main objective is to strengthen collaboration among these actors to tackle urban challenges, promote resource mobilization, and foster strategic partnerships that facilitate financing for sustainable urban projects. Expected outcomes include enhancing urban governance, regional integration, and promoting inclusive and equitable housing policies. Additionally, the event will feature initiatives such as the fourth edition of the Habitat Ecuador Award and the second call for the Integrated Neighborhood Improvement project. FUN 2024 seeks to promote more equitable and sustainable cities by mobilizing both private and public capital and implementing projects that combine urban development with sustainability and climate resilience.
