The role of Operations Centers in promoting the resilience of cities

"The focus of the event will be the role of city operational centers, such as the Rio de Janeiro Operations and Resilience Center (COR), in promoting resilience and a culture of safety in the face of current urban challenges exacerbated by the climate crisis. Additionally, it intends to explore how communication plays a crucial role in disseminating information about the city's status and events that could impact the daily lives of its residents. Within COR, communication takes precedence in informing citizens about issues related to 'city operations,' enabling them to plan their routines and mobilize them in case of emergencies. COR accesses and generates data related to mobility, weather conditions, events, and medium to high-impact incidents in the city, which support the planning and implementation of public policies. Moreover, it serves as the central hub for all the information necessary for the decision-making process by the Chief Executive and other public administrators."
