Visit www.welovecities.org through the 11th of October to VOTE for your favorite city, SHARE what you love about it and TELL us how it can become an even more sustainable place in which you can live and thrive.
This year WWF's We Love Cities public engagment campaign profiles 54 cities from 26 countries - representing over 100 million citizens - all eager to advance their positions on their journeys toward sustainablity.
WWF provides participating cities with an attractive and accessible digital platform which can be used to rally support for their efforts to combat climate change and build resilience. Citizens are invited to express their love and support for this work by voting for their favorite cities on www.welovecities.org and through social media engagement. The public is also encouraged to submit suggestions as to how cities can further advance their sustainability agendas. These suggestions are later shared with the respective cities which is greatly valued by the participants and often lay a foundation for futher public dialogues.
The global winner of the We Love Cities campaign will be announced on the 31st October.
We Love Cities is the public facing arm of WWF’s One Planet City Challenge (OPCC). Through the OPCC, 255 cities reported their commitments and climate actions on the Unified Reporting System and were then evaluated by WWF and partners who selected the finalists that are profiled in the public engagment campaign. A high-level jury of urban experts has selected 17 national winners and one global winner. Visit www.panda.org/opcc for more information on the OPCC and this year's winners.
