Hon. Hilmi Türkmen has a background in law and has served in NGOs focusing on education, culture and social welfare. He started his political career in 1992. From 2004-2014, he served as the Deputy Mayor of Üsküdar and led numerous successful community projects.

He became the Mayor of Üsküdar in 2014. He introduced significant initiatives including Türkiye’s first certified smart public building and the restoration of historical monuments. His leadership also helped solve longstanding zoning plan issues, increased green areas, and enhanced public services.
