Achieving urban resilience in the Global South through investment

"The Global South has undergone a period of rapid and often haphazard urbanization, with large population surges occupying limited territorial areas. In Brazil, the urban population has grown from 44% to 85% over the last six decades, leading to challenges in providing the necessary infrastructure and services for this growing population. This has resulted in increased inequalities, poverty, and various environmental damages. According to the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, national and regional development banks play a pivotal role in financing sustainable and inclusive socio-environmental development, particularly in the realm of urban infrastructure and services. The focus of this panel is to initiate a dialogue on actions undertaken by local governments to strategically mobilize investments through partnerships."
