Fishing for Garbage: Dialogues on the Depollution of Guanabara Bay

We will be hosting a roundtable discussion to introduce the project and share insights from its launch. During this roundtable, we aim to cover the following key points: - The observations of fishermen regarding the influx of waste into Guanabara Bay. - Insights from fishermen on the current state of pollution in Guanabara Bay and their perspective. - Project objectives and what we hope to achieve. - Monitoring the collected waste and potential initiatives for utilizing the removed waste. - Promoting biodiversity regeneration and the methods for monitoring progress. - Providing transparency and presenting our results. One of our goals, aligning with the indicated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is to foster closer collaboration between civil society, businesses, and artisanal fishermen. This will expand the dialogue surrounding waste removal from Guanabara Bay. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility (subject to confirmation) of addressing gender-related aspects by involving female artisanal fishermen from other Guanabara Bay colonies. This expansion will enrich the conversation with insights on other important issues.
