Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF)

MARUF is a biennial international urban forum organized with the motto of “Cities Developing Solutions” by Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU). MARUF targets to create a basis for sharing knowledge, experience and opportunities between public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations, universities, local governments and other relevant stakeholders, and to evaluate different approaches on urban services and urban management in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. MARUF23 will be held with the theme of “Resilience and Beyond” on 4-7 October in Istanbul Congress Center to bring together urban thinkers around passionate debates on how to make cities more livable, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive. The forum will host plenary sessions, roundtables, workshops, serious games, ideathons, networking events, exhibitions, field trips, side events, cultural events, booths, film screenings and various other events. On 7 October, World Metropolitan Day event will be organized within the framework of MARUF23 in partnership with Metropolis and UN-Habitat. We’ll address a wide range of topics, including but not limited to, climate change, energy efficiency, migration, disaster management, governance, infrastructure, inequalities, social cohesion, mobility, public health, digitalization, circular economy, public space, housing, local development.
