During the German G7 Presidency 2022, the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) is coordinating a G7 process on sustainable urban development for the first time in G7 history. This effort, which also included comprehensive national and international stakeholder consultations has already ensured the topic to be prominently included in the Elmau Declaration. Priorities set out for the G7 ministerial track on urban development did culminate in the G7 meeting of ministers on September 13, 2022, in Potsdam/Germany. A communique has been tabled, which highlights not only the vital topic of urban resilience with all its aspects, but also proposes: - the continuation of cooperation on urban development policy within the framework of the G7 - a stronger recognition of cities as dialogue partners - the joint action of the international community towards sustainable urban development - the strengthening of urban resilience
