The HerCity Toolkit's Block 4 stage formalises brainstorming and is particularly suitable when professionals are working together with non-professionals. It is a way for multiple stakeholders to discuss complex issues in a constructive way and to work towards joint visions for a specific space. It teaches girls to “think like an architect” and gives professionals new knowledge from the user perspective. It will be an opportunity to interact with our primary stakeholder group of young women who have over the months of July, August and September undertaken a data gathering process. This workshop involves interaction of technical professionals with the community, as one of the participatory processes embedded in the HerCity Toolkit. Research has shown that participatory urban development, particularly in involving vulnerable groups such as girls and young women, creates opportunities for more inclusive, equal and sustainable urban development.
