Session: CoM SSA – Boosting Low Emission & Climate Resilient Infrastructure for Growing Cities

Cities in Sub-Saharan Africa will double, or even triple their population by 2050. The Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA) stands by local governments to face these challenges, compounded by the effects of climate change. The initiative helps to develop climate resilient and climate neutral infrastructure in cities while focusing on crowding in the private sector. In addition to a general introduction to the programme, since the focus is on project support, the progress in Cameroon/Burkina Faso will be shared (e.g. pre-feasibility study, the complementing work of GOPA/GCH finance model, lessons learnt and future plans).
