Climate change has big effects on urban life: due to urban heat islands, the temperature in cities increase quicker than the surrounding areas and due to all the concrete used many cities face water drainage issues. Additionally, the air quality in cities is causing many health issues. The urgency is clear. However, the question is: how do we solve these issues and can we ensure the quality of life in cities for the future generations to come? We are curious about the opinions of students and young professional on this topic. Therefore, we are organizing a Q&A with Daphina Misiedjan, assistant professor at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Daphina specializes in issues concerning Environmental Justice and Human Rights and is the Author of the award-winning book ‘Towards a Sustainable Human Right to Water’. She raises awareness about the unjust effects of climate change. How is it possible that people in certain neighbourhoods are more prone to the effects of climate change? How do we make sure everybody can take part in sustainable energy transition?
